Fran Cherry

My current work is in the history and theory of psychology in general, and social psychology in particular. I am especially interested in social psychology's contribution to the development of "action research" in the period from 1945 to 1965. This type of research focused on prejudice reduction, the analysis of discriminatory behavior, and interventions for greater social justice. I also serve as a Board Member and research advisor for South Ottawa Community Legal Services and am interested in contemporary forms of action research.

Primary Interests:

  • Applied Social Psychology
  • Gender Psychology
  • Personality, Individual Differences
  • Prejudice and Stereotyping
  • Research Methods, Assessment
